BENTAYGA SPEED EDITION 12

The Bentayga Speed Edition 12 has been created to celebrate the history of Bentley’s legendary W12 engine, before production ends.

As one of the last opportunities to acquire a new W12 Bentley, it features a wealth of interior and exterior enhancements unavailable on any other Bentayga.

Based on the incredible specification of the Bentayga Speed, it adds Edition 12 badges and emblems on both the inside and the outside of the car – in fact, you will see reference to its Edition 12 status on the treadplates, the seat embroidery and even the beams the Welcome Lamps cast onto the ground when you open the front doors. There is a stunning overlay on the dashboard that represents the firing sequence of the 12 cylinders in the engine, and every customer will also receive a scale model of a Bentley W12 engine, cast from a real W12 engine block and provided in a beautiful, handcrafted box.

Only 120 examples of the Bentayga Speed Edition 12 will ever be built, so it really is a limited edition – one destined to be viewed as a classic in years to come.

DESIGN

This vehicle includes a number of commemorative features inspired by the W12 engine, both on the outside and the inside of the car.

On the exterior, Edition 12 badges make its identity clear. If you open the front doors at night, you will see beams from the Welcome Lamps lighting up the ground with an Edition 12 logo. The 22” Speed wheels have self-levelling Bentley badges at their centres and silver brake callipers behind them.

There is even something special under the bonnet, where a commemorative plaque has been fitted on top of the engine, reading ‘Edition 12’ and ‘1 of 120’.

When you get in, you will step over Edition 12 treadplates and enter a cabin encircled in Grand Black veneers. On the dashboard, a specially commissioned metal overlay shows the firing sequence of the engine’s cylinders, as well as a Speed Edition 12 badge. The tops of the organ stop air vent controls are machined from solid brass, each one displaying the number 12.

You can choose hides in any one five colourways created specifically for the Edition 12, which work beautifully with the diamond-in-diamond quilting, Edition 12 embroidery and silver piping. Ombré stitching, meanwhile, is an eye-catching addition, in which three different thread colours blend together on the seats.

PERFORMANCE

Because this car is based on the Bentayga Speed, it delivers the same incredible performance. The engine the Bentayga Speed Edition 12 celebrates can produce 626 bhp and 900 Nm of torque, enabling the car to reach 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds – performance it simply could not achieve without the Bentley W12. All this power is delivered responsibly, however, thanks to variable displacement technology, which can deactivate six of the car’s 12 cylinders when the full power of the engine is not required.

You can choose from four driving modes: Comfort mode prioritises ride refinement, Sports mode tunes the engine, transmission and chassis settings for exhilaration. Bentley mode offers a mid-point between the two, while the Custom setting allows you to create your own mode by adjusting individual settings directly.

Bentley Dynamic Ride is a 48-volt anti-roll system that makes it possible to prioritise ride comfort while cruising in a straight line and then deliver tighter handling through corners, keeping the car level and giving you a greater sense of control. If you take your Bentayga Speed Edition 12 off-road, it even allows for greater wheel articulation, improving grip on uneven terrain.

The All-Terrain Specification is also fitted as standard, offering four additional driving modes for specific low-traction surfaces, such as snow, mud, gravel and even wet grass. It also includes added underfloor protection, so wherever you need to drive, you can do so in complete confidence.

TECHNOLOGY

All the technology that comes with the standard Bentayga Speed is included with the Bentayga Speed Edition 12.

The car includes a suite of driver assistance features for use when driving in the city, including assisted parking and traffic sign recognition. It is completely connected, thanks to a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, as well as the wired and wireless implementations of both Android Auto* and Apple CarPlay**, which allow your phone to integrated seamlessly with your car.

My Bentley is a suite of connected services that include Online radio and over-the-air map updates. The My Bentley smartphone app, meanwhile, lets you connect to your car remotely.

It can help save you time and find your car if you’ve parked in a busy area, or assist you with car safety, having the ability to check that all windows and doors are locked when you’re away from the car.

Passengers in the rear will appreciate the Touch Screen Remote (TSR), a wireless tablet offering access to some of the most commonly used in-car systems, from heating and ventilation to music and seat adjustment.

PERSONALISATION

While this car comes with an incredibly high specification, you have the opportunity to enhance it further with a range of optional features and finishes.

You can choose from a wide range of exterior colours including a new option in the extended paint range, Opalite – a striking grey-green colour with copper tones that become visible in the right light.
